Sustainability at Aruba Aloe

We've been here for 135+ years to share the best our island has; our joy, our aloe, our soul. We bring it together to help people feel healthier, more calm, more balanced - more like - Aruba.

We came this far because we care

About our island, the earth, the community around our farm. That care shapes every decision we make, from the ingredients we choose, the packaging we use, the energy we run on, and the way we grow.

Clean ingredients

EWG-guided formulas. Paraben-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, cruelty-free, and vegan wherever possible.

Responsible packaging

Minimum 70% recycled content in all plastic and carton packaging. No PVC, no single-use plastic bags.

Renewable energy

75% of our facility's energy comes from rooftop solar panels. Our goal is 100% renewable.

Regenerative farming

No artificial fertilisers. Hand-harvested aloe. Production waste composted back into our fields.

Certified quality

ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 22716:2007 certified. Independently verified quality and manufacturing standards.

Supplier standards

Audited supplier facilities and social responsibility requirements for all key partners.

Grown regeneratively

Since 1890, we have grown and processed aloe vera on our own farm, done by hands that carry generations of knowledge — always in a regenerative way. We don't drain the earth; we make it healthier instead. Thanks to Aruba's mineral-rich soil and the power of our sun, the aloe we grow is one of the finest in the world. Every leaf is harvested by hand and processed fresh. Organic waste from production goes back into the fields as fertilizer, completing the cycle.

Clean ingredients

Every formula we develop is guided by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) Skin Deep database — an independent, science-based standard. Every ingredient we use scores below 4 on the EWG scale and does not appear on the EWG Unacceptable list.

It begins with aloe, but it doesn't end there. We use science to make the best nature has even better: active ingredients that improve performance, honest formulas, the finest textures — clinically proven.

Our products are

Paraben-free and formaldehyde-free
Sulfate-free — all surfactants we use
Phthalate-free
Cruelty-free — no animal testing, ever
Vegan wherever possible

Reef-safe sun care

"No oxybenzone. No octinoxate. For as brand rooted in the Caribbean, that is not a marketing choice. It is the only responsable one."

Our sunscreens contan no oxybenzone or octinoxate - Two chemical UV filters widely documented to damage coral reef ecosystems.

Packaging

We know plastic is a problem. We are making progress now, not waiting for a perfect solution.

Plastic tubes and bottles

They contain a minimum of 70% Post Consumer Resin (PCR) — plastic that has already been used and recycled. No PVC, ever.

Cartons and boxes

They are produced with a minimum of 70% recycled material. Incoming boxes are reused in our warehouse, and empty product boxes returned from stores go back into circulation.

Gift packaging

They use natural materials — cotton, jute, and other biodegradable alternatives. No single-use plastic bags, anywhere.

All labels carry sustainability symbols so you can see at a glance what the packaging is made of and how to dispose of it.

Energy

The roof of our Aruba production facility is covered in solar panels.

Solar energy now accounts for 75% of our total energy consumption on-site.

Our goal is to run entirely on renewable energy.

75%

Our suppliers

We cannot take responsibility for what we make without taking responsibility for where our materials come from. We expect our key suppliers to meet the same standards we set for ourselves - in the sustainability of the materials they supply and in how they treat the people who work for them.

We visit their facilities regularly, and where visits are not possible, we require a detailed questionaire covering materials, production, and employment practices.

Certified quality

Our quality management system meets two internationally recognised ISO standards, independently certified.
